Covering Teens On Car Insurance

Teen Car Insurance Alternatives

OK, one of the toughest things that we parents get to do is to turn our teens into safe and educated drivers. Part of that is finding teenagers car insurance for them!

I will be the first to admit that there are few bargains when you are looking for under 25 car insurance, but you can do some simple things to keep the premiums as low as possible.

Be sure and call your own insurer, or a qualified local agent, to confirm before you do anything. State laws differ.

1. Student drivers, on learner’s permits, are probably covered on the parent’s (or supervisors) license. i.e. if you are conforming to the rules of a learner’s permt which requires a supervisor (who is a licensed driver), the student should be covered. Be sure and call your own insurer to confirm this!

2. As soon as the student gets a license which allows them to drive alone, they need auto insurance! Yikes! You may be shocked to see your nice low cost premium double or triple. It doesn’t always have to be this way. The cheapest way to cover a teen is probably to get them covered on the parent’s policy. That way, they can take advantage of the parent’s discounts. There are also some other discounts for taking driver’s eduaiton classes, having good grades, etc. that the young person may qualify for on his or her own.

3. There are some funky things about policies, like which car the young driver is “named” on that may affect premiums too. Also, if the teen does not drive that often, naming them as an occaisional driver on a parent’s vehicle will be cheaper than naming them on their own car. These, of course, are discussions you should have with a local agent who is familiar with the insurer’s rules and your state laws.

How Does Guaranteed Issue Life Insurance Work?

Is No Questions Asked Life Insurance For Real?

If you have seen issues for guaranteed issue life insurance, you may think it is too good to be true. How can an insurer hope to profit if they do not require a medical exam or even ask any health questions? Well, I hope you do not spend a lot of time worrying about how life insurance companies make money. Trust me. They have ways.

Guranteed issue, or no questions life insurance, work because they usually use a waiting period instead of health underwrting exams or questions. These means that a terminaly ill person cannot take out a million dollar policy and hope he or she has a good chance of passing that benefit on the the family.

How Long Are Life Insurance Waiting Periods?

Policy terms will vary by insurer, but the insured person may have to survive 24 to 35 months before the beneficiaries will get the whole amount. Before that time, some policies may refund premiums, some may even pay interest on the premiums, and others may pay part of the whole death benefit. It is important to understand these policy terms before you purchase your own life insurance so you know if is a good idea or not.

Learn More About Simplified vs. Guaranteed Issue Life Insurance

You may find simplified issue policies, that do not require exams, but ask a few simple Yes or No questions that do have immediate death benefits.  Learn more about guaranteed and simplifed life insurance here.

Why Buy Renters Insurance If You Do Not Own A Home?

Do You Need Renters Insurance If You Are Not The Home Owner

Many tenants just do not see a need to purchase a policy because they do not actually own the house or apartment that they live in. These renters just figure that the landlord will have to cover damage to the structure, and they have not stopped to think about their own risk.  But even renters can be taking a risk, and a renters insurane policy can really come in handy in some different situations we will illustrate below.

Besides renters insurance is usually pretty cheap. It is easy to get too. You can find renters insurance online.

Renters Personal Property

Like a homeowners insurance policy, a renter’s policy will have home contents insurance. Think about all of the personal property you own like your TV, computers, jewelry, and clothess. If this were damaged or stolen, how much would you have to pay to replace it?

With coverage, you can get some help replacing your stuff if it is damaged or stolen! Many renters really have not thought about the value of their personal property. But the average apartment dweller probably owns thousands of dollars worth of clothes, books, music, jewelry, and expecially, electronics!

Renters Liability Insurance

In today’s society, it is not all that unusual for renters to suffer liability claims. Make sure you have an insurer at your back in case a visitor claims that you damaged them in some way.

Renters Relocation Assistance

I see tv news spots all the time about damaged apartments or homes, and the sad bit about the fact that the occupants have no place to go. This is terrible, but it does not have to happen to you. A good insurance policy will make sure you have temporary lodging and relocation assistance right away.

Possible Renters and Auto Discounts

Many auto insurers also offer home policies. This means they also offer discounts for multiple policies. You may find that renters policies are very inexpensive, and that the auto insurance discount just about offsets your cost!
